These terms cover your purchase and use of whydid, a local-first CLI and dashboard for AI-assisted coding. By purchasing or installing whydid, you agree to them.
The Founder Lifetime license is a one-time payment for a perpetual license to use whydid, including all future v1.x updates, activated on up to two devices at a time. It is not a subscription — there is no recurring charge. You can deactivate a device at any time (whydid logout) to free its slot for another machine.
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run whydid on devices you own or control, subject to the two-device limit above. You may not resell, sublicense, or share your license key with anyone outside your own use.
Don’t attempt to circumvent the device-activation limit, reverse engineer the licensing mechanism to generate unauthorized license keys, or use whydid in a way that disrupts the license server for other customers.
whydid is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to make restore and fork safe (every restore snapshots your current disk first), but you’re responsible for your own backups and version control as with any development tool.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of whydid, including lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license.
If you enable AI annotations, you’re responsible for your own usage and costs with your chosen provider (Anthropic or OpenAI), billed to you directly by that provider under their own terms. We’re not a party to that relationship.
We may revoke a license found to violate these terms (for example, confirmed license-key sharing or abuse of the license server). Outside of that, your license does not expire.
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
